The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) have 20 species of bats listed as Threatened in the state. Many of these species roost and breed in human-made structures like bridges, culverts, roof spaces and derelict buildings. If your development impacts one of these structures you will most likely require a Project Ecologist to conduct a pre-clearing inspection to confirm the presence or absence of threatened bat species. Narla’s ecologists are experienced at searching for, identifying and handling/ relocating bats and as such we are regularly engaged to conduct microbat inspections prior to construction works for our clients.
